About the program

This is an in-country shadowing program with provided shared housing and local team support.

Interns will have the opportunity to get a real-life view of working in psychology and to develop their experience and career prospects. Interns will observe trained local therapists, shadowing them in real life consultations and learning from actual therapy sessions. They develop relationships with patients and implement different treatment strategies and help the NGO to run smoothly by assisting with administrative tasks. Please note the degree of independence and nature of the tasks that Psychology interns will be assigned is dependent on your prior experience.  The team is mostly trained or worked abroad in the UK or USA, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise.



Typical day

Your day will begin at 9am following your coordinator to his day-to-day activities and community projects. Expect to end your shadowing each day at around 4-5pm depending on the daily tasks.

During your weekends you can travel to nearby cities, towns or take the ferry to one of the hundreds of picturesque islands.

Minimum Age: 18 years

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial deposit payment) will be due no less than 30 days before your internship start date.

Prior to your arrival you will also be asked to pay a $400 security deposit to cover potential damages, to the apartments and host sites, which is fully refunded after check-out within 30 days if everything is in order.

Airport Pickup at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport

Internships start on Mondays and you will have the choice to participate in the program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

The program fees include a free airport pickup on Sunday before the start date on Monday. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.


Accommodation

The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the hospital. The last night at the accommodation is Friday night in the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.

Details on arrival

The program operates throughout the year. 
Internships start on Mondays and have the choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 24 weeks.

The program fee includes a free airport pickup on Sunday before the start date on Monday. To qualify for the free pickup, interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm.
