About the program

Volunteering Solutions offers a unique opportunity for healthcare students to get international work exposure and learn about medical practices in India. This program is highly suitable and recommended for pre-med, medical, pre-nursing, and nursing students.

The project

The Medical Internship assignment takes place in a large hospital placement in South Delhi area in close proximity to some of the best areas and markets in the city. Interns are paired along with a doctor/nurse or medical professional during their time at the hospital. The internship is mostly observation based and each intern shall shadow, observe and do basic assistance work in the hospital during the period of the internship. Interns work at a full service hospital placement which offers very good facilities and infrastructure for patient care and treatment.

Below is the complete list of departments that the volunteers can choose to join;

  • Emergency
  • IPD Wards
  • Laboratory
  • Blood Bank
  • Pharmacy
  • Radiology/Imaging
  • OT
  • Dialysis Unit
  • Critical Care
  • General Wards
  • Nursing
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The participants need to give a preference of 3-4 departments in which they would like to work. Depending on their period of internship, the interns shall be able to work on rotation basis.

Participant Role

Most interns only observe or help out with very minor tasks. The tasks assigned to the interns will be strictly on the basis of the level of their education and experience. While pre-med students would mostly be observing the doctors and the staff, 3rd and final year medical as well as nursing students can get hands on experience depending upon their level of work experience and understanding; such as suturing wounds, giving vaccinations, measuring blood pressure, fever, etc. A list of daily routine of the intern volunteers includes general tasks as given below:

Depending on skills, assist with procedures like suturing wounds, giving vaccinations etc.

  • Shadow the Doctors on critical surgeries and operations.
  • Being involved in the daily procedures of the hospital.
  • Conducting hospital rounds with the doctors.
  • Maintaining files.
  • Routine patient check-ups like measure Blood pressure, check fever.k at a full service hospital placement which offers very good facilities and infrastructure for patient care and treatment.

What we do?

Currently, Volunteering Solutions operates in more than 25 countries, providing more than 100 volunteering and interning options ranging from Child Care, Teaching, Medical and Healthcare, Community Development, Marine Conservation and much more. Most of our volunteers are high school students, couples, corporate groups and individuals on their summer break or gap year.

We are in collaboration with NGOs, schools, hospitals, orphanages, HIV/AIDS clinics, women groups and other social welfare organizations all across the globe. Each of these organizations have been working at the grassroot level for years, and successfully contributed towards the development of the concerned people. VolSol has ensured that the contribution of every volunteer is counted, and there’s sustainable growth.

Our mission/vision

Our mission is to offer the most comprehensive volunteer abroad experience to travelers from all walks of life, with a vision to promote ethical and sustainable travelling. Our internship programs are crafted and designed in a way that every participant gets to know about the medical scenario of the particular country. It is both an inward and outward journey - inward, as you’ll get to learn a lot through first hand experience, and outward, as the society will be benefitted by your contribution.
