About the program

This project is open to anyone who is passionate about addressing Social and economic issues and injustices through film, arts ,photography ,drama and documentary in Africa. Work with a team of volunteers to help capture real life issues and challenges faced by people living in deprived and poor communities. Help create shot films and documentaries to create awareness to help improve the lives of underprivileged people in Ghana. 

Some of the social issues you can help address are:
1) Child Marriage
2) Female genital mutilation 
3) Child trafficking and child labor 
4) Child rights and abuse education 
5) Domestic abuse
6) Child homelessness 
7) Right to education awareness 
8) climate change and environmental awareness 
9) Human rights Advocacy 

You can also use your passion and knowledge to inspire and motivate young people in poor and rural communities to express and Explore their creative side in the field of creative art, drama and more. Help them expire to achieve more for themselves.

We also welcome volunteers who are passionate about theater, drama and arts. you can use your knowledge and experience to draw attention to global issues and to educate. Theater, drama and arts is a universal and the best way to educate children and the community as a whole.

You can also help teach young people the arts of photography and film making at our Community schools and children centers.

You can also help promote local enterprises and businesses through short films and documentaries. Help them get the necessary exposure they need to help expand the local economy to help improve the quality of life of the people.

You can also help promote the local tourism and culture through film and documentaries 


Typical day

Your day starts after breakfast which is 8:am in the morning. you will be working with a team of volunteers and our project coordinators. As a team you will decide which issues you will like your project to focus on and address. You will meet with local chiefs, community elders, youth groups and the ...

Typical day

Your day starts after breakfast which is 8:am in the morning. you will be working with a team of volunteers and our project coordinators. As a team you will decide which issues you will like your project to focus on and address. You will meet with local chiefs, community elders, youth groups and the necessary government authorities to interview them to get an insight and gather information for your project. 

Your day is divided into two parts: You will be in the field from 8am to 1pm working in the community interviewing, filming and getting all the information you need. Then you come back to the volunteer house for a lunch break. Then from 2:pm to 4:30pm you will be working in the office with your team putting together all the information you got from the field and also discuss and plan what you will be doing the next day. After 4:30pm you have the rest of the day to yourself to explore the community with your fellow volunteers.

Every weekend we organize trips for our volunteers to travel throughout Ghana to experience the Ghanaian cultural and explore. 

Our program is an excellent opportunity to combine adventurous foreign travel with a worthwhile job as a volunteer. Above all, this is an unrivaled opportunity to gain an insight into a completely different culture and way of life. Our projects are not all about work, volunteers get opportunities to explore this beautiful part of West Africa. Elmina and Cape Coast Castle, Kakum National Park, Wli waterfalls and Nzulezo Stilt Village are all within few hours from the community you will be staying in, Ghana offers an array of varying cultures and landscapes including national parks and stunning rain-forests

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Other Skills

All you need is basic knowledge in photography, arts, film and documentaries. you don't need to be an expert ,just basic knowledge to be able to help or assist . You can still join if you don't have any knowledge or experience but your responsibility will be limited until you learn from our local team and volunteers

Time Commitment

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 16:00

What's Included

Services by Dream Africa Care Foundation

The fees covers three meals a day, bottle water after meals, airport pick up, orientation, in country support 24/7, a local Simard, toiletries and 24 hours internet access so that you can keep in touch with family and friends back home. Part of the fees also goes to paying our local project coordinators and supporting our Community projects like Orphanage and school.

Airport Pickup at Kotoka International Airport

Our driver and a staff member will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the volunteer house or host family where you will staying. The airport is only 35 minutes from the volunteer house, so our driver will pick you up from the airport anytime of the day or night you arrive. After you book your flight please send us your flight details so that our driver can be at the airport in time to pick you up.

Accommodation

You can choose to stay with a local host family or stay in our volunteer house. It depends on the location where you want to be placed. Our main location is the volunteer house in Accra, where you will be living with around 16 other volunteers from all over the world. Both our host family accommodations and volunteer house is located in a very safe area in Ghana.

Food & Beverages

We have a cook in the volunteer house who prepares three meals a day for all the volunteers. We will prepare special food for you if you need to follow a special diet. The food is mostly western, but If you are a vegetarian or have any allergies this is taken into account when we arrange your placement. We also offer local dishes to our volunteers. If you are placed in a host family you might have more local dishes. Each meal comes with bottled drinking water.

Flight Tickets

The nearest airport is Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ghana. FIND CHEAP FLIGHTS

Travel Insurance

Details on arrival

Our projects run throughout the year so you can choose to join us anytime of the year that is suitable for you. The airport is only 35 minutes from our volunteer house, so anytime you arrive our driver will be there to pick you up from the airport. All you have to do is to send us your flight details and our driver will be at the airport to pick you up. The driver will be waiting for you at the Airport arrival hall wearing a Dream Africa Care Foundation T-shirt and holding a cardboard with your name written on it.

Final Payment

Your final payment will be agreed with Dream Africa Care Foundation during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
