    About the program

This placement offers a unique opportunity for physical therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists to support young learners in Tanzania. Volunteers work at a local school in Dar es Salaam, collaborating with dedicated local professionals to address the critical need for therapeutic support in a resource-limited setting. Our program tackles challenges such as limited access to specialized therapy, aiming to enhance students' physical, mental, and communicative development.

Through this experience, volunteers play a crucial role in supplementing the local therapy staff, bringing fresh techniques, insights, and valuable support for children facing developmental and learning obstacles. Accessible, quality therapeutic support is essential to a child’s education, and by volunteering, you help ensure these services reach students who need them most.

Volunteers will primarily work within our partner school, located close to the volunteer house in Dar es Salaam, allowing for convenient access and deeper involvement in the local community. This placement offers valuable insight into the unique clinical and educational challenges of developing countries, providing hands-on experience in addressing these needs with creativity and resilience.

The work environment may differ from your usual setting, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach to adapt to available resources. Volunteers can expect a welcoming, community-oriented environment where their skills and dedication are highly valued.

This project is open to any licensed or aspiring physical therapist, psychologist, or speech therapist passionate about making a positive impact on children’s lives.
