About the Program

Volunteers will help to improve the student’s pronunciation, assist in managing their homework, organize games and other activities in the learning center, and help to improve the children's listening and speaking skills. Hours can vary depending on the institution where the volunteer is placed and the hours that the volunteer wishes to work.

As a volunteer in center will give you the opportunity to teach and help students who are eager to learn and improve their abilities in English and other subjects. The students will also benefit from cultural exchange and different teaching techniques. Your main role will be to help for study, however you may have the opportunity to assist in other school activities such as sports and extra curricular projects. 

At the center there will  be around 10  to 20  kids   to  study and  get support  on  their  study through volunteers. All  the  families are very  poor and could not  arrange  the extra  tuition class  for the children.They  come  to  the center  early in  the morning and in thee evening. We provide the materials  for   the kids who comes to study  and it   is  helping  a lot  for  the  students  on their study.

All   the parents  are illiterate and  could not   support on  their kids study  at  the  home. volunteers can  bring  some story  books with  them and any  school  materials.

On  our  experiences volunteers  are  involving  with the kids  and there were  enjoying with  the kids. Mostly these placements are in the  village around Pokhara.These centers  are   at  the host families  where are the  volunteers   are staying.

Depending upon the need, volunteers may be asked to assist in other  extra curricular activities like sports. Your teaching focus will be:

  • Speaking, listening, writing
  • Simple vocabulary, simple sentences like greetings, colors, the Alphabet, numbers, time directions
  • Very basic grammar • English (2-3hours a day) in Host home
  • Organizing games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities
  • Helping kids to do homework, monitor academic progress.

When volunteers initially arrive they will spend their first 2-3 days doing orientation, taking the city tour and generally getting accustomed to volunteer life in Alliance Nepal before they start volunteer work on depending on your duration. 

First Day: On the first day of the volunteering placement, the volunteers will be escorted to the project by local staff and introduced to the staff at the project you will be working with. The volunteer joins with the local staff. You will be given a duty roster and a plan for your work. There is usually a tea break and a lunch break. 

Work and hours is dependent on the project and location that the volunteer is participating in. Mostly volunteers teaching at the  host house 1 hours in the morning 7.00am to 8.00am and in the evening  5.00pm  to 7.00pm.

Volunteers on Alliance Nepal programs often form lifelong friendships with their host families and the people they assist on the volunteer programs. However they also form strong bonds with the other volunteers they meet, work and live with on their place.

For a small extra cost, participants will have the opportunity to join in a range of exciting recreational activities during their stay. We can organize trekking, rafting and safari as per your interest, but cost does not includes in our program fees. we can arrange the short hiking and long trek according to the time of volunteer. In the weekend, volunteers can go the safari to the citwan national park.

Overnatting

Alliance Nepal manages room for volunteer. In most of the cases, volunteer stay with host family where we manage a separate room.

Mat og drikke

Volunteers get the tea early morning and daal vat at 9.00am. Light lunch at the school or a the orphanage in the afternoon. Dinner is about 7..00 pm. Family use only boiled water.

Volunteer can  arrive throughout  the  year. This  learning  center runs  throughout  the  year  and it  opens on  the  holidays. It is going to provide the extra  class  for  the  children  in  the  evening and the morning. So Volunteers can always join  the  program!

The main focus of Alliance Nepal’s work is to raise educational awareness and enhance the lives of villagers through improving education development within the community.

Who we are:

Alliance Nepal is an initiative set up by an enthusiastic team of locals within the Pokhara area. The main objective of Alliance Nepal is to be a catalyst towards social change through enhancing educational opportunities, health care, environmental awareness and cultural exchange.

A key aspect of this is through working towards setting up a Learning Center from the volunteer and cultural program fees. The Learning Center will provide villagers with the opportunity to learn computer skills, dress making and other income generating activities whilst acting as an information resource center.

Over the last 4 years Alliance Nepal has been successfully working towards its goal of education enhancement within the village. Alliance Nepal will continue working as a catalyst of social and economic change in a number of surrounding villages in the Pokhara area.

Alliance Nepal is a non-profit organization dedicated to community development and hoping to inspire volunteers and those on cultural exchange programs to help in working towards this goal. Alliance Nepal is offering a once in a lifetime experience in Nepal through a safe and friendly environment. 

Our location:

Alliance Nepal has selected the following underdeveloped, though beautiful working place, volunteers can choose one of these locations. 

  • Pokhara - It is Tourism capital of Nepal. It is 200km west from Kathmandu city. Our head office also located in Pokhara. It is renowned for being one of the most beautiful areas of Nepal with its stunning mountain range and many gorgeous lakes. Kaski district is a strange mix of both urban and rural communities. On the one hand it is the district and regional headquarter town of pokhara. On the other hand, not far from pokhara, many of the villages are extremely remote and underdeveloped 
  • Sarangkot - It 10 km west from pokhara. It is world famous place to see panaromic view of mountains Sunrise, and Sunset. There are beautiful village with view of pokhara city.
  • Kaskikot - It is near Pokhara with full of cultural heritage & beautiful scene. 
  • Lamachaur - It is rich for natural beauty. It is small city near of Pokhara.
  • Nawalparasi - It is flat area of Terai, It is west south part of Nepal. With unique cultural heritage.

Enjoying such opportunities as taking part in local festivals, weddings, farming, and visiting different areas in local village.

Alliance Nepal’s mission is to work as a facilitator and motivator to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people. Being a helping hand and support center for the holistic progress of marginalized community, we works as a path finder of the local club and groups to achieve their goal of social justice, equality, prosperity and development. Another mission is to work as a global volunteer placement center to build good partnership between emic and etic member of community to unite for the peace and development.

Alliance Nepal's vision is making a new society where every member of society has equal access on opportunities of life chances is fully guaranteed. Further more, we also want to see Nepal as a best volunteering destination for global volunteer.

Volunteers can teach in the public school, work in the local health post, assist with environmental conservation or conduct other activities that are appropriate to the volunteer’s skills and the needs of the community at the time of his or her stay.
