Program Timeline
Our program follows the ebbs and flows of the sea turtle life cycle. Sea turtle activities occur April through November in Belize. Nesting and hatching seasons are well defined and only occur during certain time periods of the year. Annually on our island on the Belize Barrier Reef we average 10 nesting sites with an average of 100-120 eggs per nest resulting in 1200 sea turtles hatched and released from our island per year!! We couldn’t do it without the help of our volunteers!!
April and May: Preparing turtle nesting sites (no sea turtles present)
May thru September: Turtle patrol and nesting data collection (sea turtles nesting laying eggs on the island)
July thru November: Nests hatch and sea turtle babies on the island!
December thru March: Program unavailable - no sea turtle activities take place
Please note, we don’t guarantee sea turtles sightings or interactions as we are at the mercy of mother nature’s timeline.
A Non-Profit/NGO Marine Conservation Organization
Our non-profit/ngo marine conservation organization empowers everyday global citizens to take an active role in directly protecting and conserving oceans and animals that we love via our marine conservation projects and environmental education and awareness. Our conservation work is funded solely through environmentally minded eco-volunteers who come to our unique island sitting in Belize to assist in our various marine conservation projects. Without your help and funding, our non-profit/ngo marine conservation organization would not be possible. Our ultimate goal is to preserve and manage our oceans for generations to come by inspiring, educating, and encouraging change via our volunteers. Our volunteers truly are the change they wish to see in the world.
