Over het programma

Eco Green Primary School has opened its doors to students in the heart of a village where there are no primary schools in the vicinity.

We started building up a primary school from scratch because there was none around in the radius of 7 kilometers.  This means the children had to walk for 14 kilometers back and forth under the scorching heat without shoes. It was  too stressful and discouraging to acquire education in this area. ..

We started building up a primary school from scratch because there was none around in the radius of 7 kilometers.  This means the children had to walk for 14 kilometers back and forth under the scorching heat without shoes. It was  too stressful and discouraging to acquire education in this area. As a result, there is high rates of early marriages to older men and pregnancies for young girls and the vicious cycle continues. The illiteracy levels are high and the area is underdeveloped with no basic facilities in the vicinity.

The school started running in July 2021 and has a current enrollment of 190 pupils; grade 1-5 respectively.  We have now started the administration block while doing the finishing on the 6th classroom, kitchen and dining area.  This social enterprise is slowly but steadily changing the narrative of socio-edu-conomics perception in this area in the grand scale of things. Making education accessible is the greatest achievement in this era and its impact is tangible and intangible.  Schools open up areas through socio-economic activities, information and  knowledge.  Education is an equalizer and a pathway to sustainable development because it is a life-learning institution. 

We are looking for volunteers to help us FINISH this project with a bang!!! We still have a library, clinic and arts theatre to build. Join us in doing a work out with a purpose through construction, landscaping and environmental  conservation activities.  We are open to sustainable ideas and initiatives. The school is located in the rural  which is about 10 kilometers away from the city where the volunteer house is.  Therefore, there is commuting to and from from Monday to Friday. The mode of transport is mainly motorbikes at a fee of 2.5 euros per day.

Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.

Our volunteer house is fully furnished. It has 3 bedrooms.


Two bedrooms are shared; 1 bedroom is a twin and the other bedroom is shared by 3 people respectively.

We provide mattresses, pillows and bed sheets.
