If you are looking for a Dental Elective Internship, then this program in Peru would be the perfect one for you. It is designed for dentistry students who wish to gain valuable knowledge and skills by working along with professional dentists. Internship work includes assisting the dentists in their tasks and helping in the sterilization of supplies as well as doing hands-on tasks depending on their medical and experience background.

On a daily basis, the routine varies but interns usually work for 4-5 hrs in a day with evenings and weekends free to travel and explore.

Note: The program is suitable only for dental students who want to gain hands-on experience and skills before starting professional work.

What to bring for your Dental Elective Program?

Each volunteer must bring the following list.

  • Periodontology kits (x2)
  • Conservation kits (x2)
  • 50 dental needle (different sizes)
  • 01 white medical jacket and Scrubs (to wear daily)
  • Box of surgical gloves (x2)
  • Alcohol wipes (x2)
  • Gauze (x50)
  • Medical cotton (x4)
  • Dental composite resins (white filling)

Interns participating in this project need to bring their own materials to develop dental cures and prophylaxis (it is mandatory).

Monday - An orientation session will be conducted by the local coordinator, informing the volunteers about relative topics such as safety, culture, language, places to visit, behavior, food, and other suggestion over things to do in Peru.

Weekends: Free to explore the city/ Head out for Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley etc.
Breakfast - 07:00 am to 08:00 am
Working hours at the placement - 09:00 am to 01:00 pm and 02:00 pm to 03:00 pm (The second shifts depends on the requirement at the placement)
Lunch - 01:00 pm to 02:00 pm
Dinner - 07:00 pm to 08:00 pm
The same volunteer work schedule continues from the second week onwards.

Interns are free to visit and see places or do shopping during their free time. Cusco’s main attraction is Macchu Picchu where you can stay for 1 or 2 days according to your budget. You can explore the nearest cities around Cusco, like Arequipa, Puno and Puerto Maldonado. (Weekends)

Âge minimum: 18 ans

As an intern, you should have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. Dental interns must provide a clean criminal background check report, CV, Passport Copy as well as other documents and credentials pertaining to their qualifications prior to joining the program. The program is available for only dental students looking to gain valuable exposure by doing dental elective abroad. Students must have an intermediate level of Spanish to join the program.

Interns are picked up from the Cusco Airport by the local coordinator or representative.

Logement

Interns are provided accommodation with local host families. By staying with a host family you will experience the local culture, customs and Peruvian way of living. Volunteers and interns are hosted in shared bedrooms with other volunteers. Usually, there are 2 bathrooms in every host family with hot showers. Accommodations are clean and comfortable. Some houses have a WiFi connection and cable TV as well.

Aliments & Boissons

Interns are provided with three cooked meals a day (Monday- Saturday) at the host family house. Meals vary from day to day and generally include soups, vegetable salad, rice, potatoes, juice, dessert etc.

Who we are?

Volunteering Solutions was established in 2006 with the aim of changing the face of volunteer traveling, and in the last 10 years, we have had more than 15,000 volunteers who completed their journeys with life changing experiences. Nicknamed as VolSol, we provide the best volunteer and intern opportunities to interested candidates from different parts of the world, and we ensure that each of them gets the maximum out of the program they choose.

As an organization, we have a cross-cultural set up in all our offices across the world. We have people from different countries, cultures and ethnicities working for us in order to make the process of volunteer traveling smoother and more flexible.

We have dedicated coordinators at each volunteer destination, coming from different countries.We take care of the volunteer’s placement, traveling, accommodation, meals and security. 

What we do?

Currently, Volunteering Solutions operates in more than 25 countries, providing more than 100 volunteering and interning options ranging from Child Care, Teaching, Medical and Healthcare, Community Development, Marine Conservation and much more. Most of our volunteers are high school students, couples, corporate groups and individuals on their summer break or gap year.

We are in collaboration with NGOs, schools, hospitals, orphanages, HIV/AIDS clinics, women groups and other social welfare organizations all across the globe. Each of these organizations have been working at the grassroot level for years, and successfully contributed towards the development of the concerned people. VolSol has ensured that the contribution of every volunteer is counted, and there’s sustainable growth.

Our mission is to offer the most comprehensive volunteer abroad experience to travelers from all walks of life, with a vision to promote ethical and sustainable travelling. We aim to make a difference in the lives of the unprivileged people in different parts of the world and to bridge the gap between the volunteers and the host communities to establish a 'Win-Win' situation for both.

Who are we looking for?

Travelers who are flexible in their approach, dedicated to provide their time and effort, and determined to make a difference in the society. Our volunteers come from all walks of life; be it a high school student or a retired professor. Any and everyone can join our projects, as long as they have the determination to be the part of volunteering brigade. The minimum age requirement to join our programs is 17 years, while, there's no maximum age limit. One need not have any particular degree or qualification to join our programs, and all we look for is the dedication and flexibility in the volunteer. 

Please Note: For our medical programs, volunteers need to be pre-med/medical/or certified doctors.
