DART is 501c3 not for profit animal welfare organization currently volunteer based and dedicated to rescuing former domestic and exotic pets with a focus on prosimians and homeless cats. We were founded in April 2020 and are a start up animal rescue. Our philosophy is that by working with a network of zoo's, volunteers, advocates, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, trainers and shelters, we will are able to rescue animals with behavioral challenges. Our goal is to provide these animals with behavioral rehabilitation to reduce stress in former exotic pets and to find a loving home for domestic pets.We are located in West Central Florida in the USA. Florida is a tourist friendly state with lots of attractions for anyone and the home of the world famous Disney World in Orlando as well as our endangered Manatee population. Florida has some of the best beaches in the world as well as a lot of beautiful Nature State Parks for hiking, biking and kayaking. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers that don't mind lending a helping hand and assist with projects to help us save more animals in the near future. Our focus remains on lemurs but we also have plans to expand our domestic/feral cat rescue and we have cattle on property as well. Volunteering with us is very rewarding, you are helping animals, learn about their care, what it takes to run a farm and obtain fluency in English in the process. Aside from assisting with projects, you will have the opportunity to explore Florida's offsite attractions and learn more about American culture in the heartland.
